Arrived at Dayton in good time. Parked at ParkNGo which bought Westwind Valet, my favorite parking spot, but these guys are nice too. All day I was tracking the plane we would eventually be flying on, and all day it was right on time. In fact it arrived early at Dayton. "Oh good," I thought, "we're on schedule."
Right after that thought, it was announced that due to air traffic control we would not be "wheels up" till 9:00 pm. (We were supposed to leave at 6:45.) That pretty well insured I would not make the Dublin flight. So I made a backup plan to take the flight to New Jersey whatever time it left, and then stay with Angie for a night (20 minutes from Newark airport), and rebook on the Monday night Newark to Dublin flight.
This would mean I could spend Monday with Angie and the kids.
When we finally got on the plane, the captain said we were going to take a different route to avoid some weather problems, but he was waiting to hear from his dispatcher if we had enough fuel for this new route! He was serious, but a lot of the passengers started laughing. Hmm maybe there's such a thing as "over sharing." Pretty soon we took off and arrived safely, so I guess we had enough fuel!
| If you watch a minute, you can see the lightning off to the north. Must be the flight pattern we avoided. |

I saw on the news this morning that an airline pilot having mechanical problems with a plane flying to Malaysia told all the passengers to pray and if they were going to survive he would need their cooperation. They ended up landing safely, but the passengers were pretty shook up. It sounded like the pilot was afraid. Anyway, I thought maybe it would have been better if the pilot told them everything was going to be okay. Or it could be, that people did end up praying and everything went well because of it. He's getting a lot of flack on the news. I'm glad you arrived safely:)
